Anna Beatriz Marques Machado was born in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She began dancing at age 9 and, at 12, auditioned for a prestigious ballet school in Rio de Janeiro. After passing the audition, she moved to the state capital to attend the Escola Estadual de Dança Maria Olenewa, where she trained for six years in ballet, contemporary dance, character dance, dance history, and other theory classes. During her studies, she interned with a professional dance company, performing in major productions such as Swan Lake, Coppélia, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, as well as operas like Orfeu and Euridice and La Tragedia de Carmen.
Upon graduation, Anna joined the professional company where she had interned. In 2019, she took a class with Cornell Calendar during his visit to Brazil, which led to an opportunity to join the ballet trainee program at the National Ballet Academy of Denver. She moved to the U.S. in June of that year to study under his guidance.
When the pandemic struck, Anna returned to Brazil, pausing her dance career temporarily. A couple of years later, she resumed her journey in the U.S., taking classes at the Denver Dance Center. At this moment, she continues to take classes regularly, teaches ballet, and is getting ready to join a modern dance project led by Maedée Dupree later in October this year.
